Furbo vs Petcube (2026): Treat Tossing, Alerts and Subscriptions

Buy the Furbo 360° Dog Camera if you want the camera to turn and follow your dog around the room and you want a version that works fully without a monthly plan. Buy the Petcube Bites 2 Lite if you want to load more treats, use bigger ones, and a single wide view of the room is enough. Both stream 1080p, talk both ways and toss treats from your phone; both makers keep smart alerts and recorded video behind a subscription. This comparison sets the two side by side using only what Furbo and Petcube publish, plus Furbo's smaller Mini 360° for cat homes.

How we chose: we did not test these cameras; every figure comes from Furbo's and Petcube's own pages or Amazon listings, and all three were sold by the brand's own store and in stock on September 28, 2026.

Furbo's figures are from the specs and comparison table on Furbo's 360° Dog Camera page. Petcube's are from Petcube's Bites 2 Lite page, which lists "1080p HD, 160° wide-angle view, 8x digital zoom, automatic night vision." The Amazon listing for the same camera says a 110° view, so the two Petcube sources disagree; we report both.

Treat tossing: capacity and treat size

This is where the two differ most, and it decides which treats you can use.

Furbo 360° holds 100 pieces. Furbo recommends "treats with a diameter of 0.4 inches (1 cm)," and its feature list says round treats of that size work best. Furbo's listing says you can customize the treat size in the app.

Petcube Bites 2 Lite holds "up to 1.5 lbs of treats." Petcube says to "use crunchy treats with dimensions of 1 inch or less, uniform in size and shape (ideally spherical)," and includes three inserts that control how many treats go out at once. The container is detachable and dishwasher safe up to 130°F, per Petcube.

Furbo Mini 360° is a camera first. Its Lite Treat Toss "fits up to 10, bite-sized, training treats" sized 0.25 to 0.5 in, and the listing says larger treats will not fit.

So if your dog's usual treats are larger or not round, the Petcube takes a wider range. If you use small round training treats, the Furbo holds plenty for a day. Either way, the treats count toward what your dog eats that day. Our dog training treats guide lists small treats by size.

View: rotating 360° or a wide fixed lens

Furbo's camera head turns. Furbo describes a "motorized 360° rotating view" and auto tracking that "automatically rotates and zooms in to track your pet." Furbo suggests placing the camera 60 to 120 cm (about 2 to 4 ft) above the floor for tracking, and puts 3M double-sided tape on the base so a dog cannot knock it over, per its FAQ.

Petcube's lens is fixed. A wide lens sees much of a room at once, but not behind it. Put it in a corner facing where your dog spends the day, and it covers that area without moving. It also gives you 8x zoom to Furbo's 4x.

If your dog moves between rooms or sleeps in different spots, the rotating Furbo is the easier fit. If your dog stays in one room or a gated area, a fixed wide view is enough.

What works without a subscription

Both makers sell their camera in two ways, and the listing title is the quickest way to tell them apart.

Furbo. The "Core Features, No Ongoing Cost" version includes "1080p live view, 360° rotating view, barking alerts, 2-way audio, color night vision, and treat tossing," per the listing. A separate "Paid Plan Required to Activate" version needs a Furbo Nanny plan before any feature works; if you cancel later, core features remain. Furbo's FAQ calls Nanny "an optional subscription service" after a free 14-day trial. The Furbo Nanny page lists AI-powered alerts (it shows vomiting, crying and running), multi-camera support, and 3 or 7 days of video history depending on the plan.

Petcube. Petcube's Care page says its free Basic plan "comes with every Petcube camera" and includes live video streaming and a one-year warranty. The paid Care tiers add smart alerts, video history (up to 90 days on the top tier), video downloads, smart filters, Daily Diary recaps and, on Premium, an online vet chat. There is also a Bites 2 Lite listing marked "Subscription Required"; the plain listing on this page is not.

So without a plan, the Furbo Core version does one thing the Petcube does not: it still sends basic barking alerts. With a plan, Petcube offers longer video history at its top tier. We do not list plan prices here; both makers show them at checkout and on their plan pages.

For a cat

The camera in this comparison's title is Furbo's dog model: Furbo's own table labels the 360° Dog Camera "Designed for dogs." For cats, Furbo sells a 360° Cat Camera with a feather wand toy, and lists the Mini 360° as "Designed for dogs & cats," with meowing alerts. For its cat camera, Furbo recommends "dry, firm treats that are 0.4 inches."

Petcube markets one camera for both. Its listing says the Bites 2 Lite tosses "dry, crunchy dog and cat treats." Cat treats are often small, which suits either camera's size limits.

A cat may ignore a treat tosser entirely. If you mainly want to see what your cat does all day, the Furbo Mini 360° or a camera without treats, such as those in our pet camera guide, is the cheaper way in.

Security and privacy

Furbo says it "uses bank-level encryption and recommends 2-step verification," per its listing. Petcube's listing mentions "advanced encryption," and its separate Cam 360 has a physical privacy mode, though the Bites 2 Lite does not list one. Whichever you buy, the FTC's home camera security advice applies: a unique password rather than the default, regular software updates, and two-factor authentication on the account.

A note on separation anxiety

Both brands mention separation anxiety in their marketing. The ASPCA's separation anxiety page describes treatment as counterconditioning for mild cases and gradual desensitization with a trained professional for moderate or severe ones, and says to consult your vet or a veterinary behaviorist before any medication. A treat camera lets you see and reward your dog; it is not that treatment. If what you see worries you, ask your vet (more on that).

Who each one suits

Buy the Furbo 360° Dog Camera if:

• your dog moves around the room or the house, and you want the camera to follow;
• you want a version that works with no plan and still sends barking alerts;
• you use small round treats.

Buy the Petcube Bites 2 Lite if:

• you want to load a lot of treats at once, or your treats are up to 1 in;
• a single wide view of one room or a gated area covers where your dog stays;
• you use Alexa devices.

Buy the Furbo Mini 360° if you have a cat, or treats are an occasional extra and the picture matters more.
