Black Friday 2026 Pet Gear: What Is Worth Buying for Dogs and Cats, and How to Check a Discount Is Real

Pet gear falls into three piles when Thanksgiving week comes round: the things you buy once and keep for years, the things sized to your animal, and the things you buy on a schedule. Only the first pile is worth waiting for. The second you buy in the right size whenever you need it, and the third you buy when you run low, sale or no sale.

How we chose: every product here comes from one of our guides, and we have not tested any of them. On October 3, 2026 we checked each through Amazon's product data and kept only listings that were in stock and sold by Amazon.com or the brand's own store that day. Each row below links the guide that explains the pick.

Black Friday 2026 dates, and what Amazon has said

Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. As of October 3, 2026, Amazon's news pages had not announced its own 2026 Black Friday event. In 2025, Amazon's announcement said Black Friday Week deals started on November 20 at 12:01 am PST and ran through Cyber Monday, December 1.

Before that, Amazon has announced Prime Big Deal Days for October 6 and 7, 2026, an event for Prime members. Some event deals are for Prime members; Amazon offers a free trial to eligible new members. We do not know what either event will include for pets, and we do not guess.

Worth waiting for: gear you buy once

A bed. The Big Barker Large has 7 in of foam in three layers and a 10-year no-flatten warranty, per Big Barker, and the Casper Medium puts memory foam over support foam with bolsters. You buy one bed and keep it for years, and neither maker changes the model by season, so there is no reason to buy it the week before a sale. Size it first: Big Barker says to measure from nose to base of tail, and our orthopedic dog bed guide has the sizes.

A self-cleaning litter box. The PetSafe ScoopFree rakes solid waste into a covered trap 20 minutes after the cat uses it, per PetSafe's manual, and runs only on PetSafe's disposable crystal trays. The box is a one-time buy; the trays are not. Before you wait for the box, note what the trays cost, because that is the number you keep paying. A feeder. The PETLIBRO Granary Wi-Fi schedules up to 10 meals a day in portions of 1/12 cup and sends phone alerts when the tank runs low, per the listing. The SureFeed opens only for the registered pet's microchip or the included collar tag and holds 13.5 fl oz, so it suits a home where one pet is on a prescription diet. A deshedding tool. The FURminator Large Dog Long Hair tool is for dogs over 50 lb, and the cat tool's large size is for cats over 10 lb, per the listings. FURminator says to use its undercoat tool 1 to 2 times a week for 10 to 20 minutes, and never on non-shedding breeds or sensitive skin. A steel tool bought once belongs in the waiting pile; our deshedding brush guide matches tools to coats.

Cat trees and scratching posts belong in this pile too; our cat tree guide lists the Feandrea 59.5 in tree with its anti-tip kit and the SmartCat sisal post. So do pet cameras, if you read the listing title: per our pet camera guide, Furbo sells the same 360° camera as "Core Features, No Ongoing Cost" and as "Paid Plan Required to Activate."

Buy it when you need it

Anything sized to the animal. The PetSafe Easy Walk comes in eight sizes with a published chest-width and girth chart, and the Ruffwear Front Range in five sizes covering a 13 to 42 in girth. Both makers say to measure the widest part of the rib cage behind the front legs and, between sizes, to go up. Winter coats and boots are sized the same way. Our winter dog coat guide explains how to measure girth, back length and neck, and notes that Ruffwear lists each size of its Vert jacket as a separate listing. The same goes for dog boots, which Ruffwear sells by paw width.

Anything on a schedule. Litter, food, flea and tick doses and fountain filters are bought when you run low. Our guide on what not to cut when money is tight sets out the four costs the AVMA, CAPC and FDA say not to pause: a yearly checkup, year-round parasite control, a food with a "complete and balanced" AAFCO statement, and a registered microchip with a collar tag. Buy the food your pet already eats; a sale is no reason to switch.

Fountain filters are the one consumable worth a modest stock-up: most makers in our cat water fountain guide say to change the filter every 2 to 4 weeks, so a pack bought in November gets used. Buy only the quantity you will go through.

A box for a new cat. The IRIS XX-Large is 30 x 20 x 14 in with a 6.5 in entrance, per the listing, which meets the AAFP's advice that a box be at least 1.5 times the cat's body length, per our litter box guide. Cornell, the ASPCA and the AAFP all say one box per cat plus one. A cat that needs a box needs it now, and a kitten or an older cat needs low sides, per Cornell.

How to tell a real discount

1. Note the price now. Our table shows Amazon's current price, time-stamped when shown. Write down today's price for anything you want, and in November compare the listing with that number, not with its own "was" price.
2. Check the seller. Open the cart and read the "Sold by" line. Our picks were sold by Amazon.com or the brand's own store on October 3; a different seller on the same listing can mean older stock or different return terms. The FTC's online shopping advice says a site must state whether you can return an item for a full refund.
3. Check the model name. PETLIBRO sells a Dockstream fountain and a Dockstream 2 side by side, and both appear in our fountain comparisons. A lower price on last year's model, or on Furbo's plan-required listing, is a different product, not a discount.
4. Check the size and color in the cart. Ruffwear lists harness and coat sizes separately, and bed colors can differ in price.
5. Add up the running cost. ScoopFree trays, Furbo's Nanny plan for AI alerts and video history, and GPS tracker plans all outlast the sale. Our GPS tracker guide quotes Tractive: without a subscription, the tracker cannot communicate its location. Over a year, the plan is the bigger number.

Recalls

We checked every brand here against our pet product recall page, which tracks FDA and CPSC pet recalls from January 2024 and was last updated September 28, 2026 when we checked. One match: on June 6, 2024 the CPSC announced a recall of FURminator deShedding Ultra Premium Dog Conditioner in the 1-gallon size over a risk of exposure to bacteria. It does not cover the FURminator tools here. Big Barker, Casper, PetSafe, PETLIBRO, SureFeed, IRIS USA and Ruffwear do not appear on the list.

Nobody can say in advance: neither Amazon nor the makers here publish sale prices ahead of the event, and a badge is not a promise of a new discount. The only comparison that is yours is the price you wrote down beforehand.

Should I stock up on pet food or litter during the sale?

What should I buy before Black Friday rather than wait for it?
